Privacy Policy for DryWay
Effective Date: October 5, 2026
Application: DryWay — Motorcycle Rain-Avoidance Route Planner (Android & iOS)
Developer Contact: [email protected]
1. Introduction
DryWay (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile applications on Android and iOS.
DryWay is built upon a fundamental privacy principle: we collect only the bare minimum technical information required to plan your motorcycle routes, retrieve hyper-local weather forecasts, and maintain app stability. We do not sell your personal information, we do not show advertisements, and we do not track you across other applications or websites.
2. Information We Collect and How We Use It
2.1 Geolocation Data
- What is collected: Precise and approximate geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) from your device’s GPS hardware (
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION on Android; CoreLocation foreground permissions on iOS).
- When it is collected: Only when you explicitly tap the “Current Location” button to set your departure point, or while actively navigating in Ride Mode with the app open in the foreground.
- Why it is used: To pinpoint your starting location and to query meteorological forecast models for your specific geographic waypoints.
- Ephemeral Processing: Coordinates are sent via encrypted HTTPS connections directly to weather API providers (e.g., Open-Meteo) and routing engines (e.g., OSRM) to download precipitation data and compute routes. We do not store your travel history or GPS trails on remote servers.
- No Background Tracking: DryWay does not track your location in the background when the app is closed or minimized.
2.2 Route Searches
- What is collected: Search terms entered into the Origin and Destination fields (such as city names or municipalities).
- Why it is used: To query public geocoding services to convert place names into geographic coordinates and calculate travel paths.
- Local Storage: Calculated routes and stretch weather forecasts are cached locally on your device for offline resilience when traveling through remote areas.
